With Telegram connected, your bot’s conversations arrive in the same Inbox as your WhatsApp channels. Your team replies from there, and Tino handles them if you turn on AI for the channel.
Who connects: Administrator, Company Manager, Area Manager, and Unit Manager. Available on all plans; Tino and Campaigns on Telegram require the Scale plan. The Tartini interface is in Portuguese. Screen and button names appear here exactly as on screen, with the translation in parentheses.

Create the bot in @BotFather

Tartini connects through Telegram’s official Bot API. Before going to Tartini, create the bot in Telegram itself:
1

Open @BotFather

In Telegram, open the chat with @BotFather, Telegram’s official account for creating bots.
2

Create the bot

Send /newbot, then choose a name and a username ending in “bot”.
3

Keep the token

At the end, @BotFather replies with a line similar to 123456789:AAH.... That is the token that connects the channel.
The token gives full control of the bot and is a credential of your company. Keep it like a password and don’t share it outside the team that manages your channels.

Connect the bot to Tartini

By default, no Unit has a Telegram channel. Where to find it: Configurações > Canais > Telegram (Settings > Channels > Telegram).
1

Start the connection

In the Atenda pelo Telegram com o mesmo Inbox (Handle Telegram in the same Inbox) box, at the top of the screen, click Conectar bot do Telegram (Connect Telegram bot).
2

Fill in the channel details

Choose the Entidade (Entity) and enter a Nome do canal (Channel name) that helps your team identify it later.
3

Create the channel

Click Criar canal e colar o token (Create channel and paste the token). The Conectar o bot do Telegram (Connect the Telegram bot) modal opens next.
4

Paste the token

In the Token do bot (Bot token) field, paste the whole line @BotFather sent and click Conectar bot (Connect bot).
If you close the modal without pasting the token, the channel is created and stays Desconectado (Disconnected). To finish later, click the ⋮ next to it, under Bots conectados (Connected bots), and choose Conectar bot (Connect bot).

On Telegram, the customer always starts the conversation. They open your bot’s link and tap INICIAR (START); the bot can’t reach anyone first. Where to find it: Configurações > Canais > Telegram, Divulgue seu bot (Share your bot) section, which shows up after the connection.
1

Copy the link

Next to the address under link do seu bot (your bot’s link), click the copy button.
2

Download the QR Code

Click the download button, to the right of the copy button, to save the QR Code as an image.
3

Publish it

Put the link or the QR Code where your customers are: website, social media bio, menu, email signature.
This QR Code doesn’t connect the channel, it brings customers to it. Without a published link, the channel stays connected and empty.

See how the contact shows up in the Inbox

A Telegram customer is identified by their Telegram account, with the name they use there. The phone number doesn’t show, because Telegram doesn’t provide it. When the conversation is closed, the customer gets a one-time invitation to share their number, with a button. If they accept, the phone number shows up in the contact details. The channel has a few differences from WhatsApp:
  • No delivery or read receipts. Messages stay as Enviada (Sent) and don’t change; this isn’t a failure.
  • No 24-hour window and no templates. You reply whenever you want.
  • One-on-one conversations only. Telegram groups, supergroups, and channels don’t come into Tartini.
  • Separate contacts. A Telegram contact doesn’t merge with contacts from other channels, even if it’s the same person.
When the customer blocks or deletes the bot, the bloqueou o bot (blocked the bot) badge shows next to their name in the Inbox. The badge goes away on its own when they write again.

Turn on Tino for Telegram

With the channel connected, the Telegram screen shows the Inteligência Artificial destes canais (AI for these channels) shortcut. Click Configurar (Configure) to open AI per channel and turn on Tino, just like on other channels.
Available from the Scale plan. See the details in Turn Tino on in a channel.

Use Telegram in campaigns

A Telegram campaign only reaches people who have already started a conversation with the bot and haven’t blocked it. That’s why the audience doesn’t accept a CSV list: you pick contacts from the channel’s own list, which only shows people who have talked to the bot. Anyone who blocked the bot shows the bloqueou o bot (blocked the bot) badge and only receives the message if they unblock it before the send.
Campaigns require the Scale plan. See the step by step in Create a campaign.

Change the channel’s bot

Where to find it: Configurações > Canais > Telegram, Bots conectados (Connected bots) section.
1

Open the channel menu

Click the ⋮ next to the channel and choose Trocar bot (Change bot).
2

Paste the new token

In the Trocar o bot do canal (Change the channel’s bot) modal, paste the token and click Trocar bot (Change bot).
When you change the bot, the published link changes: anyone with the old link no longer reaches the channel. Conversations with the old bot don’t carry over to the new one.

Channel cost

Right now Telegram doesn’t charge for using its Bot API. In Tartini, the channel uses credits like any other: messages and AI follow the rules in Credits explained.

Troubleshoot the channel

The customer blocked the bot

Cause: the customer blocked or deleted the bot on Telegram, and Telegram refuses any message sent to them. Fix: there’s nothing to do from Tartini. Only the customer can unblock the bot and write again.

The channel became Disconnected after changes in @BotFather

Cause: the token was revoked or changed in @BotFather, and Telegram rejects the old token. Tartini notices on the next reply sent or within 10 minutes. At that point, the channel changes to Desconectado (Disconnected) and your team gets the Canal desconectado (Channel disconnected) alert, which takes you straight to the Telegram screen. Fix: copy the current token in @BotFather, click the ⋮ next to the channel, choose Conectar bot (Connect bot), and paste the token. With the same bot, the published link stays the same.

”Este bot já está conectado a outro canal” shows up

This message means “This bot is already connected to another channel”. Cause: each bot delivers messages to a single channel at a time. Fix: create another bot in @BotFather for this channel, or use the channel the bot is already on.
