With two-factor authentication, the sign-in screen asks for your password and then a six-digit code generated by an authenticator app on your phone. It’s all found in Configurações > Pessoal > Segurança (Settings > Personal > Security), in the Autenticação em dois fatores (Two-factor authentication) card.
The Tartini interface is in Portuguese. Screen and button names appear here exactly as on screen, with the translation in parentheses.
When the company requires the feature, Tartini asks for the setup right at sign-in, on the Proteja sua conta (Protect your account) screen, and the Desativar (Deactivate) button doesn’t appear.

Turn it on

By default, the feature is off. You need an authenticator app installed on your phone, such as Google Authenticator, Authy, or 1Password.

Confirm your password

In the card, click Ativar (Activate). Type your Senha atual (Current password) and click Continuar (Continue).

Scan the code

Open the authenticator app and scan the code on the screen. If you can’t scan it, click copy next to the key under Digite esta chave manualmente no app (Enter this key manually in the app) and paste it into the app.

Confirm with the first code

Type the number the app shows into Código de 6 dígitos do app (6-digit code from the app) and click Ativar (Activate).

Save the recovery codes

The screen shows the codes only once. Use Copiar (Copy) or Baixar .txt (Download .txt), keep them somewhere safe, check Guardei meus códigos de recuperação em um lugar seguro. (I’ve saved my recovery codes somewhere safe.), and click Concluir (Finish).
Done: the card shows Ativa (Active) and the date. On the next sign-in, after the password, the screen asks for the code.
Each recovery code works in place of the app’s code only once. Without your phone and without the codes, you can’t get into the account.

Switch apps or phones

Click Trocar app (Switch app). The wizard asks for your password and a code from the current app (or a recovery code), shows a new code to scan in the new app, and generates new recovery codes. The old ones stop working. The old app keeps working until you click Confirmar troca (Confirm switch).

Generate new recovery codes

Click Novos códigos (New codes), confirm your password and a code from the app, and click Gerar (Generate). The previous codes stop working. The card shows how many codes remain.

Turn it off

Click Desativar (Deactivate), confirm with your Senha atual (Current password) and a Código (Code) from the app (or a recovery code), and click Desativar (Deactivate). The account goes back to being protected by the password alone.
The Desativar (Deactivate) button doesn’t appear when the company requires the feature. In that case the card shows “Sua empresa exige autenticação em dois fatores.” (Your company requires two-factor authentication.)

FAQ

At sign-in, click Usar um código de recuperação (Use a recovery code) and type one of the codes you saved. Afterward, in Security, use Trocar app (Switch app) to register your new phone.
They’re not shown again. Generate new ones in Novos códigos (New codes).
Check your phone’s clock: the app generates the code from it. A clock that’s off invalidates the codes.
